Every day for the next 30 days, I will deliver a daily challenge to help you experiment with creating more enjoyment.

Sometimes all it takes is a small reminder to remember to shift focus.


Over the next 30 days, you will get to experiment with what resonates for you.

With consistent practice, you will build new neural pathways in the brain that can help you re-orient the way you look at life…

Enjoyment becomes not just the rare experience, but a DAILY experience.


Let’s do this!  There’s no time like the present!

In fact, the present IS the present…  (Too cheesy?  Ha!  You’re right. 😉 Ok…  Let’s do this!!)

The first thing that we’re going to do is set up a mindfulness practice.

I think Dr. Shauna Shapiro described this practice so beautifully here:  “The Power of Mindfulness:  What You Practice Grows Stronger“.

So let’s get started!



Step 1

Choose Your Daily 30-Minute Timeframe


Are you a morning person?

Or an evening person?

For this exercise, it doesn’t even matter… Ha!

All you need for this step is to choose a time of day that is best-suited for 30 minutes of quiet reflection.

Ideally, this would be the same time every day so that your brain starts to expect and look forward to it…

But having a consistent time is less important than making the time.  So let’s put it in your calendar right now!


This is 30 minutes of time just for you.  You deserve it!  You ARE worthy of your own time and attention!

Step 2

Choose Your Poison (Did I say poison?  I Meant…  Potion!)


Studies show that the key to habit change is #1 awareness and #2 reflection.

You have already dedicated the time for awareness in Step 1 (congratulations, btw!! 💗), now you just need to choose your own flavor of reflection.

Your magic potion.


This will be your own personal recipe for creating more enjoyment in your life.

Feel free to choose the one that most resonates with you from the list below.

Again, this is less about the method, and more about simply doing it.  (Yes, Nike, you were right…)


So go ahead and select your magic potion now and let me know at what you decided to do.

Daily Options for Reflection

At your daily scheduled time, set a timer for 30 minutes and choose one of the following writing activities.

What were you thinking…  And more importantly how were you feeling?

    1. Create a ‘Fun Scale’ and reflect on your mood over the last 24 hours.  What was your mood going into the daily challenge, your experience during the daily challenge, and your mood afterwards? OR…

    2. Write 3 things that you appreciated about yourself in the last 24 hours, OR…

    3. Write about a positive experience that you had in the last 24 hours, OR…

    4. Write about an act of kindness that your offered or received in the last 24 hours, OR…

    5. Write about an experience of enjoyment in the last 24 hours, OR…

    6. Create a Laughter Diary.  Write about a funny thing that happened in the last 24 hours.

      OR…  Come up with your own!  No one knows you better than you.  Here’s your opportunity to create a little gift for yourself.  Thirty minutes of creating positive energy through reflection.  Train your brain to look for the positive and it won’t let you down.

You have now scheduled a daily reflection practice.  Maybe you’ve even done a bit of writing…

Let’s celebrate this important milestone!

Give yourself a hug.  Really.  I mean it.

No one is looking.  And PS…  Who cares if they are?!  You are modeling self-love!  No need for self-consciousness here people!  This is THE stuff!

Tips for the self-hug newbies:  tuck your right hand into your left armpit.  Put your left hand on your right shoulder.  Now squeeze.  Feel it deep in your bones…  you are loved!
